A few weeks ago the committee sent out a survey asking you to tell us a bit about yourselves and your thoughts and opinions about our group. 22 (out of 100) of you responded and we wanted to feedback openly and let you read the results summary. This info will now help us as we plan for 2018 and beyond. Thanks for taking the time to respond guys - here’s to creating a stronger English Speaking Haarlem group with your help.
We asked: 1. What’s the single best thing about ESP?
You said: (In summary) Getting to know likeminded people and sharing experience and tips with other mums. Many also appreciate speaking English.
We asked: 2. What would you like to change?
You said: You’d like to see more events for adults either casual or formal and more for older kids although there is a general understanding that new mums with small children often need the most help and support.
We asked: 3. If you have kids - how old are they?
You said: All of you who responded have children and most between the ages of 2 and 6. Some 6-10 and a few teenagers and beyond!
We asked: 4. What are the top 5 events that you’d like to see?
Casual evening drinks
Easter egg hunt / Coffee mornings / Sinterklaas evening event for ladies (these were of equal importance)
We asked: 5. What stopped you from attending?
You said: Time/date not suitable or OTHER. You would like to see events spread over weekdays both during the evening and daytime, and at weekends. Plus it would be useful if we preplanned key event dates and let people know in advance. Other more adhoc events could be less formally planned and decided on later. We asked: 6. What do you feel you could bring to the ESP?
You said: This is the best part! Nearly all of you are willing to support the group and have something to give – even if it’s just a friendly ear, a welcome to new arrivals or some helpful advice! Others have already offered to help us organise events and are posting messages on our community Facebook page.
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions. Now we understand a little more about the direction you’d like us to take, so watch out for messages from us on Facebook calling for your help and support with events or better still send us a message and tell us what you’d like to share/organise.
